About Our Office

The Shirley Veterinary Centre is a purpose built clinic that offers plenty of parking, separate dog & cat waiting areas, appointments, modern veterinary equipment, and ‘in house’ blood tests with results in as little as an hour.  We’re open 7 days a week for better availability with times to suit you.

For the last ten years the Shirley Veterinary Centre has passed the stringent requirements for the New Zealand Veterinary Association’s Best Practice standards.

This is the top level of New Zealand Veterinary Practice and we are very proud to have reached, and maintained, this standard.
To achieve Best Practice standards, a rigorous grading is held every two years looking at all aspects of our veterinary practice. This includes inspection of our facilities, office, drug and hospital record keeping, staff qualifications, OSH requirements, employment standards and the high level of service to our clients.

I began doing work experience at the Shirley Vet Clinic in January 2017 whilst studying at Otago Polytech and I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be offered a job in July. I love all animals great and small, but I have a passion for small animals such as rabbits and wildlife.

At home I live with my partner Elliot, our 3 dogs Marley (Fox terrier X) and echo (GSP), Norman (GSP) a cat named Catmin and an array of small animals. In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors, anywhere I can go with the dogs! I also spend many hours studying to improving my skills and knowledge.

The staff at the Shirley Vets have welcomed me with open arms since day one and are now like family to me. I am so proud to be a part of the team and I look forward to many more years.
